With reference to your despatch No. 52 of the 24th April applying for repayment of the expenses incurred for the maintenance of military prisoners in Victoria Gaol during the year 1870, I have the honour to inform you that I have learnt from the War Office that Mr. Cardwell & I have been authorized to pay to the Crown Agents the sum of £1571-13-6 on that account.
